The Fox Theatre in Walsenburg to test hosting a Monday matinee at 12PM starting Monday, June 8th at 12PM. We also have a new 7PM showtime.

Monday is typically “office day” for the part-time staff and volunteers who host movies at the Fox Theatre in Walsenburg. On Monday’s the part-time staff and volunteers set up the theatre for the upcoming movie. The marquee is updated, our website and Facebook profile is updated, posters are hung, the memo on our answering machine is updated and the theatre is cleaned.

The Fox Theatre depends on volunteers to operate. Our volunteers are committed community members but their time is limited and valuable. Already on Monday’s, a crew of volunteers are scheduled so we thought of testing a Monday matinee. A Monday matinee does not require an extra time slot. A Monday matinee expands an existing time slot already filled with volunteers.

The Fox Theatre wants to host a Sunday matinee. We need volunteers. In order to host a movie, we need five to seven volunteers. The lead volunteer is responsible for opening and closing the theatre therefore must commit to being available from 6PM-10PM (before the movie begins and after it ends). Two volunteers will count change (exchange money), selling tickets and concessions. Volunteers (not the lead) can choose to leave when the movies starts. To volunteer, please send an email to or come visit with us on Monday (we’re in the office by 10AM).

Ticket prices remain the same for Monday matinees. $5 for Adults, $4 for Students and $3 for Children.

Also in June, we’re going to test screening at 7PM instead of 7:30PM. This means the doors open at 6:30PM and trailers/advertisements begin at 7PM. Trailer lengths vary, feature begins at roughly 7:10PM. We depend on your feedback, if you think we should screen earlier or later, let us know. Send an email to

We have new popcorn and it’s local! Our new popcorn supplier is Musso Farms of Pueblo. The fresh kernels require less popping oil.

We have a new website. The site is only 50% complete so we’ll be adding new information as we develop. For right now the site is a resource of our upcoming movie schedule, movie trailers, ticket prices and ways to get in touch. Our new address is We’re on Facebook.
